What we collect
Free Museums Directory does not require accounts, newsletters, or invasive tracking. We gather only the following limited metrics to monitor performance and reliability:
- Anonymized page view analytics provided by Plausible Analytics.
- Server logs containing IP address, browser, and timestamp for up to 30 days for security auditing.
- Optional feedback emails that you initiate when contacting us.
Cookies & local storage
We do not set tracking cookies. The site uses local storage exclusively to remember your theme preference and the list of museums you have favorited. This information never leaves your device unless you export it.
Data retention & third parties
Aggregated analytics are retained for 24 months to help us understand long-term trends. Server logs are automatically deleted after 30 days. We do not sell or share any personal data with advertisers or unrelated third parties.
Infrastructure providers such as Vercel (hosting) and Plausible (analytics) process data on our behalf under strict data protection agreements. They never use your information for their own marketing purposes.
Your rights
You can request deletion of any personal information we store, obtain a copy of data associated with your email, or ask questions about this policy at any time. Simply email info@freemuseumfinder.com and we will respond within 14 days.
